Blue Monday

What is actually important and what is negligible? There are the things that jump right out at you, obvious and present, and then the others in the background. You cannot see them directly, you only perceive them indirectly, in fragments. Is that the past, fading more and more, disappearing, becoming less important with every moment? Or is it the base, the foundation on which everything else is built? May we even separate the two? Can we understand, grasp, recognize something without setting it apart? Enough of all these less than uplifting questions without answers. There is still a little time left until January 3rd, the most depressing day of the year, the so-called “Blue Monday”. Until then I can console myself with David Hockney: “Surface is an illusion, but so is depth.”
